Homework: shopping and bargain

I was doing my homework today when i realized that it would be a good idea to share it here.

Right now I’m learning some key words about shopping and bargain. SO I had to create a dialogue where I try to buy something and then I have to talk about sizes, collors and try to bargain a better price. Well, my vocabulary is not much yet.. and I’m still a beginner (please *always* remember that..) and so far, I have only used pinyin. We (teacher and I) have decided to keep focusing on pronounciation and know how chinese structure works before using the characters.  So the whole dialogue is written like that.

Oh, of course, if you know chinese and wants to correct me, please feel free!

Oh², I can only type 2 kinds of tones on my computer (` and´) so since i can’t type them all, I decided to only write the number of the tone by the side of the word (ex: shen2 = shén)

Ok, shall we?

A: Ni3 hao3! Ni3 mai3 shen4 me?

B: Ni3 hao3. Wo3 ke3 yi3 shi4 shi yi1shuang1 xie2 ma?

A: Ke3 yi3, ni3 chuan1 duo1 da4 hao3 de?

B: zhong1 hao3 de. (i choose this cause i don’t know about shoes sizes in chinese..)

A: Hao3 de.

B: Wo3 xiang3 yi1 dianr3 xiao3. You3 dianr3 da4 ma?

A: Hao3 de. Shi4 you4.

B: Wo3 bing4 yao4 yi1shuang1 wa4 zi. Yi3jian4 hei1 de.

A: Hao3 de.

B: Duo1 shao3 qian2?

A: Yi3 gong4 qi1 shi2 kuai4.

B: Tai4 gui4 le! Pian4 yi dianr3 ba?

A: Ni3 shuo1 duo1 shao3 qian2.

B: Liu4 shi2 kuai4 ba?

A: Hao3 de.

B: Xie4 xie. Zhe4 ge yi1 bai3 kuai4.

A: Bu4 ke4 qi. Zhao3 ni3 si4 shi2 kuai4.  Zai4 jian4.

B: Zai4 jian4!

Translation…?

When I was learning english, one of my favorite things to do was getting a song i like and try to translate it. Even if it wasn’t right. Even if i spelled it all wrong. I could always check on dictionary later, anyway. hehe.

So I decided to do that with chinese too. I try to get some songs I like and try to translate it. I absolutely love how this song sounds and I decided to actually know what it’s saying! Of course I know that the translation is pretty poor, since I did almost all of it looking at the dictionary. So, if anyone out there knows chinese and it’s kind enough to check it and see what I’m doing right or wrong.. please feel free to correct me! =]

And no.. I didn’t write the part in chinese.. i just copy.. but i translated all by myself! Well, with a little help of the dictionary.. =]

I like your eyes

Look at my eyes

I like your face

Close to my face

I like your hand

Hold my hand

I like your mouth

Kiss my mouth

Time changes

Don’t you ever change

Because I will ever love you this much

I don’t believe you would ever ask me to renounce this love

I really love you very much (?)

I wish this to continue this way (?)

The rest of it is pretty much repetition, so I didn’t repeated all of it all over again. Well.. let me know how right/wrong i am doing, please!

Chinese learning resolutions

Making new years resolutions is always very important so you can keep the track of your own growth and you never forget the things you really want to do, even during all day by day distractions.

After thinking about all the things I want to reach now in 2012 I came to think that I have been on and off oh chinese for about 2 or 3 years now. I have never been serious about it and that’s why I’m still a begginer after all this time. Well, no more excuses for this new year!!

I got mostly inspired by a post discussion and  this post. So I guess it’s a great chance to take it seriously this time and really start to learn and *speak* chinese! Create public blog and post my goals makes me put some more effort, since I don’t want to embarass myself in front of everyone.

By this, I’m mking a commitment of:

  1. NEVER miss any of my chinese classes
  2. ALWAYS review the new words learned and keep reviewing even when I don’t have classes
  3. Post here at least once a week about my development and all the new things I have learned.

So, goals for learning chinese in 2012:

  1. Take chinese classes 3 times a week,
  • always paying all the attention that is required;
  • always preparing myselff to the classes, making sure i completed the homework and made a review of the last class.

2.  Study by myself,

  • reviewing the audio lessons at least once a day;
  • making personal notes and abstration from each lesson;
  • studying them everyday for at least 30 minutes.
3.  Posting on Blog
  • post at least once a week, reporting my development;
  • post other things related to chinese language that I think it might be interesting.

Any other ideas of what should i set as a goal? I’m free to recieve sugestions!

And why The Gyoza Dilemmas you may ask? Well, it’s obvious. I’m addicted to gyoza! =]
